In Vision 7.6 and higher how can a expense report approval workflow be setup to prevent an expense report from being submitted without information in the Detail field?
Description:
How to prevent an employee from submitting an expense report that contains expense entries without details (e.g. business reason) when expense approval is turned on?
Resolution: 
  1. Have the Approval Administrator of the expense approval workflow open the expense approval workflow being used in Configuration > Workflow > Approval Workflows > Workflow tab.
  2. With the cursor on the first Step\row in the Approval Step grid > click Insert in the Action grid > and select Validate Error at Start.
  3. In the Validate Error Condition window, click Insert and fill out the following fields: 
    1. Column = ekDetail.Reason
    2. Operator = empty
  4. Click OK.
  5. Fill in the Description field with what the error will say if an expense report is submitted without any information in the Detail field.
    Example:  Detail field is required!!
  6. Click Save.
