Summary:
Getting ".Net Framework 3.5 Required" message when opening any Ajera application.
Description:

Receiving the following error when attempting to open any Ajera application on a Windows 10 workstation. (See attached file)

Cause:

Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is not enabled by default when you do a fresh install of Windows 10.

Resolution:

To enable Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Click on the Turn Windows Feature On or Off link.
  3. Check the box next to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.
  4. Click OK.

If the process failed to download the necessary files through Windows Update, use the .Net 3.5 files from your Windows 10 installer. Get assistance from your IT to run the command below:

Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /source:X:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

Where X: is your installation media.

1. Press the Windows Key and type gpedit.msc.
2. Local Computer Policy > Admin Templates > System > Specify settings for Optional Component install and component repair.
3. Check the Contact Windows Update Directly box and set policy to Enabled.
