Credit Memo Amount Cannot Exceed the Invoice Balance

When processing a credit memo for an invoice in Interactive Billing, receiving the following error:

Credit Memo amount cannot exceed the invoice balance.

Cause:

Processing a credit memo on an invoice with an outstanding amount but the amount of the credit is greater than the unpaid balance of the invoice or the invoice total.

Resolution:

Run the AR Aged report in Reporting > Accounts Receivable to determine the remaining unpaid balance of an invoice.
