Should a backup be made for Year End?

For On-Premises Customers

Deltek strongly recommends that you develop a disaster recovery plan for your organization, including a maintenance plan for your Deltek Vision databases, and that you test it periodically. Year end is a good time to review your backup and recovery procedures.

On-premises customers are responsible for creating and managing their own backups before performing year-end processing. 

For Cloud Customers

Cloud customers do not need to manually create backups for year-end processing. Deltek Cloud Operations automatically handles all backup and disaster recovery procedures as part of your cloud subscription.

Deltek Cloud provides the following automated backup services for production databases:

• Daily backups retained for 7 days
• Weekly backups (every Saturday) retained for 30 days
• Transaction log backups every 15 minutes
• Point-in-time restore capabilities

These automated backups ensure your data is protected during year-end processing and throughout the year. All Deltek cloud services maintain production environments held to the highest operational standards, serving as the focal point for disaster recovery replication and backup procedures.

If you need to request a restore from a backup database, your designated Vision  Administrator can submit a service request through Deltek Cloud Operations. Please refer to KB 72369.

Note: All Vision Cloud offerings include 4 backups per calendar year. Additional backup services can be purchased through a Backup add-on that includes an additional 12 backups per calendar year.
