Resolution:
- Go to Configuration > Accounting > Accrual Schedules.
- From the New menu, select New Schedule.
- Enter a Schedule ID and Description. This is to describe the accrual schedule being created and would be recognizable if seen in a list of Accrual Schedules.
- If the Accrual Schedule is based on hours worked, check the box for Calculate Based on Hours Worked. (NOTE: If Calculate Based on Hours Worked is selected, there are additional fields in the grid to enter. The Hours Per Year and Hours Earned Per Hours Worked are linked so if one is entered, the other will update. Additionally, a Max Hours Per Process can be entered.)
- Click Insert. If a new employee should be accruing Benefit Accrual hours immediately, then the Start Month should be 0 (blank). If a new employee should not accrue Benefit Accrual hours until after they have worked past the end of the month they were hired, the Start Month should be 1. NOTE: Vision does not look at the day of the month in the Hire Date field of the employee (Employee Info Center > General tab). It only looks at the month and year. Example: If the Hire Date shows 1/16/2022, the first month (January) will have been completed on February 1st, 2022.
- Enter an End Month.
- Click Insert to create a second tier on the Accrual Schedule. Again, add a Start Month. This is the number of months that must be completed in order to move to the second tier of the Accrual Schedule. Example: If the second tier is to start after an employee has worked for 12 months, enter 12 in the Start Month field.
- Add as many tiers that are needed. The last line of the Accrual Schedule should have an End Month of 9,999 if this tier is used for the rest of the employee's employment.
- Click Save.
The Accrual Schedule is ready to be used and assigned to an employee (Schedule field) in the Employee Info Center > Accounting tab > Benefit Accrual Code grid when the Method of the Accrual Code is Schedule.
